Happy almost-July, neighbors 🌞
From giant trucks and roller disco nights to wine tastings, operatic drama, and good old-fashioned parades, this week is overflowing with fun, flavor, and local pride. The East Bay is bringing its A-game to Independence Day—with community cleanups, creative markets, and moments that celebrate our neighborhoods in the most unforgettable ways.
Whether you're into giant trucks, soulful jazz, handmade treasures, or open-air opera, there’s something magical happening this week that brings our East Bay neighborhoods to life.

Did You Know? The East Bay Has a Patriotic Past
America’s first official Fourth of July celebration with fireworks happened in 1777—just one year after the Declaration of Independence was signed. The festivities included a 13-gun salute, bonfires, music, and fireworks lighting up the Philadelphia night sky in honor of the original 13 colonies.
Here in the East Bay, cities like Alameda and Vallejo carry that tradition forward with their own local flavor. Alameda’s Fourth of July Parade has grown into the longest in the nation, while Vallejo’s waterfront celebration draws thousands for music, food, and a spectacular nighttime show.
It’s a reminder that these events aren’t just for fun—they’re living history, connecting us to a tradition nearly 250 years old.

East Bay Flavor
Located on the tip of Alameda’s historic Naval Air Station, Scolari’s at the Point is a casual walk-up kitchen offering killer burgers, sandwiches, and weekend brunch—with unbeatable views of the Bay and SF skyline. While there's no official Independence Day special listed, it’s one of the best spots to grab a bite before or after the parade. Locals rave about the mushroom swiss burger and garlic fries, and their rotating craft beer list is perfect for toasting the holiday.

If you are hungry and it's sunny and beautiful outside, I'd definitely make a trip here! It's a little hidden gem in Alameda with a ton of outdoor and indoor seating. It's like having a picnic but with no grass and a view of the San Francisco skyline from afar. Each table outside also has a giant umbrella for some shade if needed.
